This Breaking News Planned Parenthood Video HAS to Be Bringing Up Horrible Memories for Some -- Here's Love and Relief

Deliver Me
Get Delivered from your pain after abortion
This week news broke about a video showing an official at Planned Parenthood discussing the sale of body parts of aborted fetuses.

As horrendous as this news is, I'm wondering about all of the people who have an abortion in their past -- both women and men. Somewhere around 50 million women. Plus a similar number of men. This constant news story has GOT to be bringing up horrendous feelings and memories and more. (Tweet that!)

If you're in that group, or know someone who is, please know this book was written with you in mind -- not to add to your pain by condemning you, but instead to tell you that you are loved. You can be forgiven. You do not have to continue through life carrying this.

If you have experienced losing a child to abortion, and if you are hurting over it -- whether it was 5 months ago or 50 years ago -- you can find relief, love, and forgiveness from God. (Tweet that!)

I know, I know. If you have that condemning inner voice hounding you, telling you this is something God could never forgive, then what I just said about God forgiving must sound pretty unbelievable. But believe it. It's true. (Tweet that!)

In this book, ten women and several men shared their stories. They've been there. They know. They found that unbelievable forgiveness. They didn't believe it existed either, but they found it. And they wanted to share their stories so you could find it too. (Tweet that!)

It's all this book. Find 10 stories from women in chapter 4. Discover more stories from men in chapter 5. Order it now. Read it in the privacy of your home or room or space. I promise you'll find nothing but love and encouragement.

You've lived with it long enough. It's time you were delivered from your pain. Just turn to God and say, "Deliver me!"

Deliver Me Book on sale for Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

the book Deliver Me, Hope, Help, & Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy
Deliver Me
Hope, Help, and Healing through
True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy
Sunday, January 19, 2014, is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Haven't heard of it? Let me explain.

On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court handed down its decision on Roe vs. Wade which legalized abortion on demand in the United States. Since then it is estimated by the National Right to Life that more than 55 million human lives have been lost to abortion in the United States in the past 41 years. That's a staggering number.

But what if we doubled that number? I ask because for every one of those human children who have been lost to abortion there is also a Mom. Yes, there are fewer Moms who have lost a child to abortion than there are abortions--we don't know exactly how many fewer--because statistics show many women who have one abortion have more than one.

So if we're attempting to count the number of people touched by abortion, that number probably wouldn't be exactly double the number of abortions.

But then let's not forget the Dads. For every abortion there is also a Dad.

I believe (and research shows) that people--both women and men--are wounded by abortion. This means there are a lot of "walking wounded" in our society.

Why do I bring all this up? Because these are the very people the book Deliver Me is for.

Just this morning I saw a new book by a well-known author titled God is Not Mad at You. I thought, "What a great title for a book." Then I thought, "What a great topic for a book!"

So many people today need to hear that message: God is not mad at you! God loves you! And yes, He can love you even when you've done things you now regret.

This is also the message of Deliver Me. If you, or someone you know, needs delivered from the pain of the past or the chains of regret, Deliver Me will show you true story after story of women and men who have found freedom from the haunting stories of their pasts. They have found forgiveness. They have discovered God is not mad at them, even though they thought He was...sometimes for years or even decades. It's never too late to discover your healing.

To commemorate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, Deliver Me is on sale this week exclusively on Amazon's Kindle. (Don't have a Kindle? No problem. Your device can become a Kindle reader.)

Returning "Home" for an Author Event at the new Brew Unto Others

260 Pages ~ $14.99
Returning "home." Well it's not where we're originally from, but if anyplace feels like home it's Lamar, Colorado. We lived there from 1992 to 2000, we got involved in a church there, and we continue to see friends from Lamar often (not to mention going there often).

But since my last three books came out over the past 15 months, I haven't made an opportunity to take my books to Lamar and do an Author Event. That's about to change.

On Saturday, November 30, 2013, from 8:00 to 1:00, I'm going to be at the new Brew Unto Others coffee house in Lamar, Colorado.

Since it's the beginning of Advent Season (Advent begins December 1), we will be featuring my Christmas book, Prophecies Fulfilled in the Birth of Jesus (2012, PNP, $14.99). This book makes a great family devotional or group study to bless your Christmas season.

But I will also have my other books on hand:
  • Deliver Me: Hope, Help, & Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy (Connections, 2011). This book actually started in Lamar, and features several stories from Lamar. In fact, the first of more than 50 true stories in the book is from Lamar. $14.99 This book was named "Book of the Year" (Family / Relationships) by Christian Small Publisher's Association in 2012.
  • Dear America: A Letter of Comfort and Hope to a Grieving Nation (2002, Ampelos). My first book, I wrote this shortly after we moved from Lamar, in the days after the events of September 11, 2001. It includes "10 Things I've Learned While Sifting through Grief" and the story of the Bible in five acts. $6.95
  • Grandparenting Through Obstacles: Overcoming Family Challenges to Reach Your Grandchildren for Christ. Released in August 2012 by Pix-N-Pens Publishing and co-authored with Renee Gray-Wilburn, this practical book features twenty true stories to inspire and give hope to Christian grandparents. $15.99 This book was named "Book of the Year" (Family / Relationships) by Christian Small Publisher's Association in 2013.
  • Prophecies Fulfilled in the Death & Resurrection of Jesus (April 2013, PNP) is the second in my "Prophecies Fulfilled" series and makes a great devotional to follows the Christmas book during the Lent Season preceding Easter. $14.99
Please stop by Lamar's new coffee house, enjoy a cup, and visit with me.

Deliver Me attends the CareNet National Pregnancy Center Conference

Our Work

This week I'm very excited to be an exhibitor at CareNet's National Pregnancy Center Conference at The Sheraton Downtown in Denver, Colorado.

I'll be exhibiting my book, Deliver Me: Hope, Help, & Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy.

If you're attending, please stop by the Connections Press booth #73. Mention you saw this notice on my blog for a special gift (while supplies last!).

Also, we're going to have some drawings! Enter (in person only) to win a bag of books (and more!) to bless you and your ministry.

I hope to talk with many people who staff and run these wonderful pregnancy centers about how Deliver Me can help them in their ministry. For one thing, Deliver Me is just like having their former clients sit down and chat with their current clients. The 54 stories in Deliver Me tell the true stories of women and men in similar situations as their pregnancy center clients, but have the added benefit of hindsight. Those who shared their stories in Deliver Me can now talk about the choices they made and how it affected their lives, what the outcome was and what happened next. What a valuable tool for those making decisions today!

Also, Deliver Me can help with fund-raisers! As a donation incentive, an "included value" bonus to a banquet ticket purchase or a "value added" bonus to a dessert reception. It can serve as a reward for a donation of a certain level or a thank you gift to major donors. There are so many ideas! I'm excited to be able to talk with pregnancy center resource directors and volunteers this week about all the ways Deliver Me can bless their ministries.

Deliver Me won Christian
Small Publisher Association's
Book of the Year award in 2012
If you know someone who's attending the show, or if your favorite pregnancy center is planning to come, please pass this information along to them and tell them I invite them to stop by my book and say hi.

Even if you're not attending, please keep this entire, important event covered in your prayers. Thank you so much!

Deliver Me was a finalist in AWSA's Golden Scroll
Awards in 2012

Pregnancy Center Conference today

Today I'll be leaving for the Rocky Mountain Conference. This is a conference especially for the staff and volunteers of pro-life pregnancy centers.

I'm hoping to talk with these staff members and volunteers about my book that was created especially for them: Deliver Me: Hope, Help, and Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy.

Deliver Me came about because of my work on a board of directors of a small town pregnancy center. I found so many people, including my Christian friends, had no idea what we were doing in that center. They had a lot of misconceptions: that we were referring women for abortion, that we were encouraging promiscuity...

I wanted to gather true stories to showcase just what we were doing in that center. I wanted people to know the truth of what we were accomplishing. The stories of people who come to pregnancy centers are often hard stories filled with heartache, but so often through the help they receive these stories become beautiful.

That's what I wanted to share! That's what I want people to know. I wanted women and men to know that they could find caring, compassionate help. I wanted Christians to know they could confidently support their local pro-life pregnancy center. If you'll read these stories, I think you'll be convinced.

Those hard and beautiful stories fill the pages of Deliver Me. Fifty-four stories about women who want to keep their babies, men who have lost a child to abortion, women who have given a child for adoption, and more, each has a connection to a pro-life pregnancy center, a connection to compassionate help people found there. They show the picture of what pregnancy centers are really doing in and for our communities. Their story--that of the pregnancy centers--is beautiful. I hope you will check it out.

Deliver Me:

So I'm off to the Rocky Mountain Conference hoping to convince pregnancy center workers that Deliver Me is a valuable resource, both for their clients and their supporters.

Deliver Me a Finalist at AWSA's Golden Scroll Nonfiction "Book of the Year"

No way! Has it really been nearly three months since I posted to this blog?! It has been a busy, busy but exciting summer. Let me fill you in, but it will take several posts.

Waaaay back in my May 28th post I told you I had just learned that my book, Deliver Me, was selected as a finalist for the 2012 Golden Scroll Nonfiction Book of the Year award. The award is presented at the annual banquet hosted by the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA). This year the banquet was in Orlando on July 15, 2012. It was wonderful to have Hal there with me for the first time on one of my business trips!

Hal accompanied me to the 2012 AWSA Golden Scroll banquet in Orlando, Florida
I felt so honored to be one of four finalists for the Nonfiction Book of the Year award! The other three finalist books were all published by well-known traditional publishers, so for me to be standing on that platform in front of about 150 agents, editors, publishers, and authors with my self-published book was a wonderful recognition of my book and its quality and worth to readers.

In then end we didn't win the award, but to simply be a finalist was huge. I was awarded a beautiful framed certificate by the founder of AWSA, Linda Evans Shepherd. It was a moment I will truly treasure for a lifetime.

Dianne with AWSA founder Linda Evans Shepherd who presented a certificate to Deliver Me
for being a finalist in the 2012 Golden Scroll Nonfiction Book of the Year awards.
This was Deliver Me's second nomination for Book of the Year. Earlier this year Deliver Me won the Christian Small Publishers Association's "2012 Book of the Year" in the Family/Relationships category.

Thank you Linda and AWSA for such a beautiful award and for the wonderful recognition.

Tonight! Premiere of "The Choice" short film

Do you know what today is? Today is the premiere of the short film I wrote, directed, and produced in February. The Choice is premiering at the 168 Film Festival in San Fernando, California, TONIGHT!!

Here is the 168 Film Festival schedule. If you scroll down to "Screening Four" tonight, you'll see our film, The Choice, (Team 22) is listed third. That portion of the screenings starts at 8:35 PM. All the films are a maximum of 11 minutes. Ours is 10 (9:56). At the Festival, they just run film after film after film with no break or commentary in between. So...I'm guessing The Choice will screen approximately 8:55 or 9:00 PM California time (if they're running on schedule). That's about 10:00 PM Colorado time. I hope that excites you as much as it does me!
Did you know...  This short film, The Choice is based on a true story in Deliver Me by the same title? The story is written by Chris Jackman.

Chris Jackman also wrote a song by the same title with appears on her CD "The Choice."  Her song is featured in the film.

If you're interested, you can watch The Choice movie trailer right now!

Today I'm honored to be the guest columnist over at Jennifer Slattery's wonderful blog "Live Out Loud." Jennifer blogs about "learning to follow Christ one day at a time." She talks about broken lives saturated by grace.

The topic is "Intentional Healing from a Haunted Past." She did a marvelous job with my bio on the Deliver Me book and me, and added links! Wow!

I hope you'll enjoy it and leave a message and/or Tweet it and Facebook it. Thanks!

And my thanks to Jennifer for the awesome opportunity to write for her blog and to live out loud today.
